TOOTHLESS SISYPHUS

Under his recently acquired moniker Toothless, Ed Nash has continued to deliver thought provoking tracks that use ear-bending samples and interesting subjects to excel his alternative-pop to another level. The Bombay Bicycle Club bassist steps up to the plate once again with mythological indie-pop tune ‘Sisyphus’, which opens with an unusual chime sequence before launching into upbeat combinations of shoegazey guitar and a forerunning drum beat. The rich instrumentation is perfectly synced to the natural melody of Nash’s understated vocal. It’s an absolutely superb track and will have you reaching for the replay button before it even finishes. On the lyrical matter, Toothless explains that “Sisyphus is a Greek myth about a man whose punishment is to roll a boulder up a hill every day only for it to roll back down. I wanted to write a song with this story as the basis, but for it to be about a relationship between two people, not an individual's daily struggle.” For many of the tracks we’ve heard from The Pace Of Passing LP so far, the topic of relationships comes to the surface again and again. Look out for this anticipated release on January 27th via Island Records next year. - HT
